FESA GENERAL CIRCULAR NO. 48/ 2008
NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK 2008, May 12 – 18
Today marks the commencement of National Volunteer Week 2008 and
the theme for this year "volunteers change our world", is a great reflection
on the extraordinary achievements of our more than 30,000 volunteers:
• Bush Fire Service
• Emergency Services Cadets
• Fire Safety Education Centre and Museum
• Junior programs through local brigades, groups and units
• State Emergency Service
• Volunteer Emergency Service
• Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service
• Volunteer Fire Service
• Volunteer Marine Rescue Services
I also take this opportunity to acknowledge the volunteering undertaken by
numerous staff throughout the organization who support a variety of
charities or local community groups in many different ways.
Volunteers from all sectors certainly make an enormous difference to the
quality of life to many people through our State.
I know that you will all join me in thanking our volunteers, their families and
employers (including self employed volunteers) during this special week of
celebration for their dedication and commitment to protecting their
communities.
During this week which is set aside for Australia to recognise and thank
our volunteers, it is also fitting to acknowledge the support provided by
their families and their employers (including our self employed volunteers)
who all play a pivotal part in the success of our volunteering activities.
