In 1983, general maintenance and equipment for the Brigade units was discussed and it was resolved to draw up a list of requirements. This list and their costs along with a copy of our financial statement be sent to the Shire with a request for financial aid in meeting the costs.
After the meeting J. Sharps gave a general outline on the use of the new radio units. In 1985 the brigade had a busy bee and a refresher course on equipment operation. The Bush Fire Board were giving courses. The brigade wrote to the Swan Shire regarding completion of access between Morley Rd. and Jenkins Rd.

1986 saw the brigade inform the shire that they offer to sell the old blitz truck and use the money to go towards a 600L slide on slide off tank.
 
At the Annual General meeting in 1987 the Shire was informed that the Bedford Fire Truck needed re powering. The brigade intended to purchase a 2” pump for the supply of water to fill the tank. We also wrote to the Shire suggesting they install a repeater on the existing communications tower to help in a wider radio network.
