Role
The Second Radio Operator is responsible for monitoring, transmitting/receiving messages over the ComCen Radio (Channel 25/30/55) and the secondary radio as required, recording such messages and ensuring that consequent decisions are made, and requests actioned, in a timely manner. If Radio Operator 1 is overloaded by traffic on the Command Channel radio then the Second Radio Operator is toadvise the ICPO and provide assistance to Radio Operator 1.

Appointed by the Incident Control Point Officer
Appointment Priority
The Radio Operator 2 will be the sixth position filled upon arrival
Reports to
The Radio Operator 2 reports to the Incident Control Point Officer
Duties
· Assist with the establishment/setup of the Incident Control Vehicle/Site
· Monitor, Transmit/Receive messages on ComCen Channel (25/55)
· Monitor the Secondary Radio
· Record all messages in a Radio Log
· Using written message pads, ensure messages requiring action, or decisions, are passed to relevant personnel
· Follow up on outstanding messages not actioned in a timely manner with the Incident Control Point Officer
· Assist the Primary (Command Channel) Radio Operator if that operator is overloaded
· Obtain regular situation reports from Sector/Divisional Commanders as required
