Role
The Radio Operator is responsible the transmitting/receiving messages over the incident command channel, recording such messages and ensuring that consequent decisions are made, and requests actioned, in a timely manner.

Appointed by the Incident Control Point Officer
Appointment Priority
The Radio Operator 1 will be the fourth position filled upon arrival
Reports to
The Radio Operator reports to the incident Control Point Officer
Duties
• Assist with the establishment/setup of the Incident Control Vehicle/Site
• Transmit/Receive messages on the Incident Command Channel
• Monitor the Incident Command Channel
• Record all messages in a Radio Log
• Advise all units at the incident that a Controlled Network has been established and the designated callsign for the Control
• Using written message pads, ensure messages requiring action, or decisions, are passed to relevant personnel
• Follow up all outstanding messages not actioned in a timely manner with the Incident Control Point Officer
• Advise the Incident Control Point Officer if Sector/Divisional Commanders are having difficulty maintaining radio contact with the Control
