Role
The Incident Control Point Officer is responsible for the establishment and efficient management of the Incident Control Point, effective support for the Incident Management Team and supervision of Incident Support Group personnel.
Means of Appointment
1) In the first instance, the officer rostered as the Incident Control Point Officer; or
2) The most senior (in experience) Incident Support Group person on site; or
3) The first-arriving-on-site Incident Support Group person;
Appointment Priority
The Incident Control Point Officer will be the first position filled
Reports to
The Incident Control Point Officer reports to the Incident Controller
Duties
• Provide advice to the Incident Controller on the preferred location for the Incident Control Point (ICP) — Note: - The final decision as to the ICP location is determined by the Incident Controller
• Monitor 6IP/6AR radio channel until Radio Operator 2 is on site
• Obtain spot forecast weather report for the incident area through ComCen and provide to the IC
• Obtain current resource list from Incident Controller
• Liaise with the IMT personnel
• Confirm with the IC that appointment of an Assistant Operations Officer has been considered
• Task, supervise and monitor the ISG crew
• Maintain overall control of the Incident Control Point
• Advise IC/IMT when Incident Control is fully operational
• Advise 6IP/6AR that Incident Control is fully operational, incident name and command channel in use
• Maintain log of activities/decisions
• Manage ISG crew shift durations and relief arrangements
